Saw something on the internet the other day and it reminded me of the early 60’s when my gran had an early warning siren at the pub they owned.  It was for the Cold War Four Minute Warning and we had to get it out of the box and test it once a year. That itself took longer than four minutes!!

I remember the siren down at the inn
‘Was it scary?’ Where do I begin

Four minutes, was all we were promised
Make peace with our God, families to be kissed

When the real apocalypse actually comes
It won’t be announced to the rattle of drums

It’ll come sneaking in when least expected
By those in power it’ll not be detected

You can bet any money they’ll miss it all
Pretending it’s false, not ready for their fall
